Hi! I would like to recommend a movie to you. If that's ok. Its called "The Man from Earth" Very interesting movie that explores some ideas regarding christian dogma. Good story quality dialog. I am sure you would enjoy it.
Hey there. You rule! Your tastes are very similar to mine. I’ve yet to see 3:10 to Yuma though I’ll have to pick that up. Anyway…as for westerns. I can only recommend the few that I’ve seen but I think they are pretty spectacular.
Rio Bravo: One of Quentin Tarantino’s favorites. It’s surprisingly subtle and well acted. The Gunfighter: This one is a little less popular. Gregory Peck does a really great job here. More of a character study than action movie.
If you like. I can make you copies of these. It would be my pleasure.
You're lovely & brilliant, but, for the record: Canada wasn't "formed" in 1867; the country was federated then as a political entity. Europeans lived in (what is now known as) Canada since at least 1610.
If you like insightful, existential kind of movies with something to say about psychology and human nature then check out Little Miss Sunshine, Mulholland Drive (really weird), Grave of the Fireflies and Spirited Away.
Also, Man on Wire and Confessions of a Superhero are interesting documentaries heavy in psychology with existential themes.
Esti super tare. Mi-a placut parerea ta despre x-men - wolverine, si interesante recomandari. Nu prea am vizionat asa de multe filme, iti recomand totusi American History X, sper ca nu l-ai vazut.
Interesting choices. I didn't really enjoy Sunshine when I first saw it, but in retrospect, I think it was pretty cool, and I LOVE Danny Boyle, the director.
Mysterious Ski has one of the most brutal... certain-type-of-seen.... that I've ever seen, and i've seen WAY too many movies.
If you like foreign film, you should check out Persepolis, from 2007, I think. It's French, animated, and it's one of my all-time favorites.
If you like horror, you should check out the Orphanage (Spanish - and I'd recommend it despite it essentially being a ghost movie), Dead Snow (Norse - best zombie movie since Planet Terror in like 2007), and more recently I really liked Sunshine Cleaning.
If you haven't already watch "Aguire, the Wrath of God" and "Fitzcarraldo" both by Werner Herzog. Then watch "Burden of Dreams" a doc by Les Blank about Herzog making "Fitzcarraldo". I think you will love the films and Herzog.
Just found your blog. You absolutely nailed the Wolverine review (though I'd argue the special effects were AWFUL at points, like when he's in the bathroom looking at his claws for the first time and when Prof X shows up at the end). It was just a bunch of action hung on the skeleton of a gutted story.
Your recommendations were all SPOT ON! I loved all 4 of those movies.
My favorite western is Dead Man starring Johnny Depp. It's a black and white movie directed by Jim Jarmusch, and it's one of the most quiet, seething, existential films I've seen.
I actually wrote an essay about Sunshine in response to a friend who absolutely hated the film. I hit on a lot of the same points you brought up, you may like it: http://www.homoridiculus.com/?p=6
I'm an X-men fan myself. But when I saw the poorly animated spaceship, I knew that was time to delete the movie. But u r damn right about 'In Bruges' .. a brilliant movie
You should check out "The Proposition" (2005) - A "western" set in 1880's Australia. Totally brilliant flick - beautiful cinematography, great actors, gritty action, and a wonderful soundtrack by Nick Cave.
Not to be confused with "The Preposition", which is just a chapter in an English textbook ;)
We have the same taste in movies. I thought Wolverine sucked (other than seeing Hugh Jackman's bare ass for about two seconds). But I loved In Bruges, Sunshine, and 3:10 to Yuma! If you haven't yet seen Raise the Red Lantern, Straw Dogs (1971) or The Triplets of Belleville (animated), I recommend those. :)
Shawshank Redemption Schindler's List (its not about religion) Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind Reign Over Me Fight Club The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Up Life Is Beautiful la la la~
But you know what you should watch other than movie?! YOU SHOULD TOTALLY watch Anime!!!! xD You at least have to watch One Piece. It is soo full of hopes, and it gives you energy! It's nothing about love and anything sad. It doesn't matter what kind of fucked up person you are, you will be crying while you watch it!!! ><
I was soo excited once I found out you are a movie addict!!! I am so gonna infect you xD
Thanks for recommendations. Some of my top favourities (in random order) are:
- U Turn - Session 9 - Gattaca - Science of Sleep - El Laberinto del Fauno - One Flew over the Cookoo's nest - The Shining - El Maquinista - The Jacket - Pi - Happy Accidents (very hard to find but it's brilliant!) - The Tentant

------Hallo °so my god it´s Criss°!
I'm not asking to have the perfect
life...I'm just asking for it to
be a little less difficult .
Wait
For the time
To release your mind
Sacrifice
Wait
For the kill
To Realize
Nothings real
Cannot Feel
Fill meeee
With everything
Taken by you
Kill Meeee
With every thought
So I know this is true
Taken by you
Tonight
everything will be alright.
One kiss
And I die
Never had the chance
to rethink life
this time
One Dance
And I see
You hated me
How can I breathe
Or bleed
Love
Is the lie
You sacrificed
To be by my side
I
am shattering
into millions of shards
Skimming my heart
And I
Am bursting
Into flames
All to blame
For YOU
I am Wholy Shattered
My heart is torn and tattered
I cannot breathe
I cannot see
Mind still scattered
But
I
can relive
the life I made
Pen mistake
And I
Can erase it all
So I can refall
I can crumble the page
And destroy this mistake
Never have to hurt
If i can rip it all away
If the life I really live is better
why do i ever stay
Revelations of pain
Then I realize I created reality
my own world
my own pains
I can go back
If i am still sane
As a child It started
I left broken hearted
Into the world made by ink,
creations, made with the thoughts i think
It's all fake
I get up and tear the book
my heart was crying,
but it's meaning I mistook
Don't run away
Face the pain
It will be okay
let it melt in the rain
No more running
no more tears
No more penning
past my fears
.......i wish you nice Dreams
-------i´m glad that i find YOU :)
I recommend Barcelona a movie made in 1994. Best dialog ever. Very interesting theme about Americans and Europeans.
it's very rare to find a woman that appreciates westerns
Hi!
I would like to recommend a movie to you.

Its called "The Man from Earth"
Very interesting movie that explores some ideas
regarding christian dogma. Good story quality dialog.
I am sure you would enjoy it.
I'm still a sucker for Superhero movies, no matter how crap they are. :)
The Burrowers was a good recent film.
But 'Casino' and 'Glengarry Glen Ross' I LOVE =))
Please tell me you've seen "Let the Right One In" - If you love "Mysterious Skin", as did I, you'll love this tone poem for the screen. IMDB 1139797.

In Bruges was a pretty good movie, thanks for the recommendation.

You're lovely & brilliant, but, for the record: Canada wasn't "formed" in 1867; the country was federated then as a political entity. Europeans lived in (what is now known as) Canada since at least 1610.
But "Wolverine: Origins" still sucked.
I sold all my X-Man comics years ago for about $1000. It sucked but I needed it to move out of my moms house.
Quest que cest? Irone Man.

The most interesting Western I've ever seen is Jodorowsky's "El Topo".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Topo
Westernish: Down in the Valley with Edward Norton
The Lives of Others (German) is great.
By the way, El Topo is horrible.
I'm an X-men fan myself. But when I saw the poorly animated spaceship, I knew that was time to delete the movie.
But u r damn right about 'In Bruges' .. a brilliant movie
Movies of note: BladeRunner, North by North West, Rear Window, District9.
You rule. :)
Kris,
Thanks for the tips on 3:10 to Yuma (excellent) and In Bruges(extra super excellent)!
You should check out "The Proposition" (2005) - A "western" set in 1880's Australia. Totally brilliant flick - beautiful cinematography, great actors, gritty action, and a wonderful soundtrack by Nick Cave.
